Enjoy the following offerings for Lent/Easter.
Palm Sunday Masses, March 24/25, 2018 – Saturday 5 pm; Sunday 9 am and 11:30 am.
The name “Tenebrae” (Latin for “darkness”) refers to a Holy Week evening service of Scripture Readings and songs accompanied by gradual extinguishing of candles commemorating the Passion of Jesus. In a reflective and moving service of prayer, a number of candlesticks placed in the sanctuary are gradually extinguished at the end of each Scripture reading and song, the last of which is left lighted. Then, the lighted candle is removed from the sanctuary and “hidden” and a loud noise is made (recalling the thunder on Calvary at Jesus’ death) which continues until the candle is returned and shows by its light that the “victory” of darkness is only temporary in light of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. At St. Ann Church, Tenebrae will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 27 at 7 pm.
Easter Sunday Masses, April 1 – 9 am and 11:30 am.
